Reduce the Allergic Risk by Combining Steam and Vacuum
Dust Mites and Allergic Risk
The study on allergy has proved that common indoor environmental allergen, such as dust mite, is an important risk factor for allergic sensitization. "Although you can't see them, minute creatures called dust mites can be found just about anywhere humans live and sleep, including bedding, carpeting, draperies, and upholstery. The little devils feast on flakes of human skin sloughed off every day, and pay their human hosts back by
giving off allergy-causing substances called allergens. According to a recent study, nearly half of all homes in the U.S. are likely to have bedding that contains dust-mite allergens at levels high enough to provoke a possible allergic reaction. And, there are enough allergens present to trigger asthma in susceptible people in 22 million households.[1] " Dust mites increase fast. One study showed that the dust mites count tripled after only 3 days [2].
Conventional Cleaning and Dust Mites
One of the conventional cleaning methods is vacuum cleaning. Vacuum cleaning is an economic way for cleaning. It does reduce the amounts of dust mites in the cleaned areas. However, vacuum cleaning does not kill the dust mites and what is worse is that the dust mites might be tossed in the
air during the cleaning process. Some study attempted to control the dust mites by freezing them with liquid nitrogen [2]. It worked but not practical for household cleaning.
Steam Cleaning and Dust Mites
A study demonstrated a satisfactory result that there was no live mites
exist after steam treatment on 8 carpet samples [3]. If vacuum the areas
after steaming, the dead mites will be removed from the areas. The study
concluded that the best way to reduce the dust mites is to combine the
steam cleaning with the vacuuming. In Top Innovations' Lab, all Steam
Fast Steam Cleaners have been tested. The temperatures of all the steamers
are 210 F on average. The temperature is high enough to kill the dust
mites. With the availability of steam cleaners at Top Innovations, Inc.,
you may enjoy a healthier living environment. Please read the products
